Pollution in People

Each of us has chemicals building up in our bodies that escape from the products we use each day. The Environmental Health Strategy Center led a study of pollution in people for the Alliance for a Clean and Healthy Maine in 2007 and participated in a national study of health care workers in 2009.

Body of Evidence: A Study of Pollution in Maine People
Samples of blood, urine and hair were collected from thirteen Maine people and tested for chemicals used in common products. Each participant had measurable levels of more than half of the chemicals we tested for.
