Creating Jobs Through Investment in Clean Technology
The best way to encourage job creation is to leverage capital investment in research, development and commercialization of clean technology. There are three Research and Economic Development bond proposals before the Maine Legislature in 2012 that the Environmental Health Strategy Center supports to keep Maine’s economy moving forward, and take advantage of new opportunies in sustainable bio-based manufacturing.

 

Federal Appropriation Request for Sustainable Bioplastics Development in Maine
With the Sustainable Bioplastics Council of Maine we are calling on Maine’s Congressional Delegation to advocate for a federal appropriation of funds to advance the research and development of bioplastics made in Maine from potatoes and wood chips.

Reintroduction of the Green Chemistry Research and Development Act
We are urging Maine’s Senator Olympia Snowe to reintroduce the Green Chemistry Research and Development Act, which she originally sponsored in 2008.
