Federal Appropriation Request for Sustainable Bioplastics Development in Maine

With the Sustainable Bioplastics Council of Maine we are calling on Maine’s Congressional Delegation to advocate for a federal appropriation of funds to advance the research and development of bioplastics made in Maine from potatoes and wood chips. The requested funds are needed to complete technology development to support the commercialization in Maine of the rapidly growing bioplastics industry. This project will position Maine to attract $160 million in capital investment, which will create over 850 jobs in manufacturing, construction, and related fields, and generate over $250 million annually in economic benefits to Maine.
