Consumer Product Safety Reform Bill Signed Into Law

A new Federal law sparked by the lead toy recalls of the past year will ban the sale of toys containing lead and phthalates!!!  This is a major victory for kids health.

Senator Collins Urged to Protect Communities From Chemical Security Threats

We helped deliver nearly 10,000 petition signatures to Senator Collins asking her to support the "Chemical Facilty Anti-Terrorism Act of 2008".  The legislation aims to reduce or eliminate the consequences of an attack on U.S. chemical facilities by requiring the use of safer chemicals and technologies.

KID-SAFE PRODUCTS BILL PASSES

The Maine Legislature passed LD 2048 (the Kid-Safe Products bill) by overwhwelming margins: 35-0 in the Senate and 129-9 in the House. The nearly unanimous support reflects broad and deep public support for the bill.

Toxic phthalates found in Maine toys and baby products

A new study released on Monday found toxic phthalate chemicals in 20 of 24 baby and children's products bought in Maine. Three of the products tested were composed of 33% or more phthalates.
